OUR MINISTRIES
DEACON MINISTRY:
As an extension of the Pastor, the Deacons Ministry of First John Missionary Baptist Church ministers to the members as a representative of the Pastor in matters that will further the growth of the individual member as well as the corporate body of First John. The Mission of the Deacon Ministry is to attend to the needs of the members of First John as related to the Spiritual and temporal affairs that may arise. The Deacon Ministry of First John Missionary Baptist Church is passionate about developing a Christ-like congregation and thus are committed to the standard of ministry proclaimed by the Word of God.
DEACON WIVES MINISTRY:
The Deacon Wives Ministry of First John Missionary Baptist Church is to compliment the Deacon Ministry of First John by assisting in the preparation of the elements for the Lord’s Supper, preparation of female candidates for baptism, and assisting the Pastor with counseling and visitation of sick and shut-in as the need arises. The Deacon Wives Ministry has as its focus the enhancement of worship service and evangelism for augmenting the growth of First John Missionary Baptist Church.
TRUSTEE MINISTRY
The Trustee Ministry of First John Missionary Baptist Church is to ensure that the property, equipment, and possessions of First John Missionary Baptist Church are safe and secure. The Trustee Ministry is responsible for ensuring that First John Missionary Baptist Church is always ready and conducive for worship service and the uplifting of the name of Jesus Christ. The Trustee Ministry is responsible for the “business” aspect of the ministry of First John Missionary Baptist Church as well as representing First John Missionary Baptist Church in all legal matters
GENERAL MISSION MINISTRY:
The General Mission of First John Baptist Church reaches inward, nurturing the membership through mission study, education, fellowship and prayer. The General Mission also reaches outward through personal witnessing, evangelizing, helping the needy and less fortunate, and seeking justice and liberty for all in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
SUNDAY SCHOOL MINISTRY:
The First John Missionary Baptist Sunday School mission is to fulfill the mandates given in the Great Commission to “teach.” Therefore, the First John Sunday School strives to make the fullness of God’s Word a reality in the lives of both the saved and unsaved. The Mission of First John Missionary Baptist Sunday School is to provide a biblical foundation in the lives of individuals that will transform families, friends, and the community for the Kingdom of God by providing classes for all age levels from infants to adults.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL MINISTRY:
The Vacation Bible School Ministry of First John Missionary Baptist Church is the Evangelistic Arm of the First John Missionary Baptist Sunday School. The Mission of the Vacation Bible School is to provide an evangelism ministry for First John that will evangelize members and discipline children in the way that they should be trained Spiritually. The First John Vacation Bible School is designed to create a spiritually engaging, Christ-centered VBS Curricula that consist of a Christian world and life view presented through fun-filled challenges and adventures while studying the Word of God.
LAYMEN MINISTRY:
First John Laymen Ministry mission is to assist First John in achieving the Great Commission by seeking to cultivate the Christian life of laymen (boys and men) through study, worship, fellowship and service. First John Laymen Ministry seeks to enlist un-churched men for fellowship in and service through the church and to bring unsaved men into a vital relationship with through a personal commitment to Jesus Christ. The Laymen Ministry of First John Baptist Church seeks to support the programs of First John as well as the community.
YOUTH MINISTRY:
The mission of the First John Youth Ministry is to nurture, inspire, and equip the youth of First John to live as lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. The Youth Ministry Mission of First John is to assist the youth in growing personally and spiritually through Bible Teaching, youth activities, and community outreach.
